SONGWRITING
By: Laura Alford
The first sunny day after
Months of cold and gray
I rush to leave this desk,
Get outside, go play
Cause I’m skipping on the inside
Splashing down a slip-n-slide
Got a smile a mile wide
Can’t you see
I’m skipping on the inside?
Saw him there one time before,
Smiled and gave him a wink.
The second time
He smiled right back
And we sat down for drinks.
Now I’m skipping on the inside
Splashing down a slip-n-slide
Got a smile a mile wide
Can’t you see
I’m skipping on the inside?
One plus one, then two more,
All adds up to four.
Kids and cousins,
Grammy and Gramps,
Life’s revolving door.
We made it through the earaches,
Junior high and senior prom.
Now we’re on the downhill slope,
Drinking Perrier and Dom.
We’re skipping on the inside
Splashing down a slip-n-slide
Got a smile a mile wide
Can’t you see
We’re skipping on the inside?
My knees are creaky,
I can’t run
But it don’t matter,
I still have fun.
Cause
I’m skipping on the inside
Splashing down a slip-n-slide
Got a smile a mile wide
Can’t you see
I’m skipping on the inside?
